Abstract
528,906. Gas-blast switches. AKT.-GES. BROWN. BOVERI, & Cie. May 2,1939, No. 13069. Convention date, May 6, 1938. [Class 38 (v)] An air blast switch with power and isolating points of interruption has the power switching contact pressure produced pneumatically by providing the movable contact with a piston which can be subjected to air pressure on both sides and arranged so that, on opening, the opening pressure is greater than the closing pressure. The isolating switch is of the simple air-break kind In the Figure the operation of valve f releases compressed air from container a by way of insulator b and chamber m to the power point d and the upper side of a piston g. The lower side of this piston is in continuous communication by way of tube k having constriction o through insulator i to the container a. The influx of compressed air into chamber m may open a valve n so that the contact making pressure is reduced while the piston is descending. An isolating switch is supported on insulator c.
