Abstract

583,896. Air-blast switches. GORDON, H. H. (Allmanna Svenska Elektriska Aktiebolaget). March 20, 1944, No. 5129. (A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 25, 1945]. [Class 38 (v)], An air-blast circuit-breaker with one or more breaking gaps has a blast valve 3 and a subsequently-opening separate valve 4 for supplying the operating air, to ensure sufficient blastpressure before the contacts 11, 12 are separated by the air passing along pipeline 20 to the pistons 14. When the contacts 12 are in their lowest positions, a pipe 21 is opened to admit air to the upper side of a piston 18 which moves a valve 17 to stop the flow of air through the gap. The upper valve 17 is supplied through a pipe 21 and retarding device.
