Abstract

816,315. Air-blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Sept. 6, 1957 [Oct. 11, 1956], No. 28166/57. Class 38 (5). To prevent condensation in the control pipe 7 of an air-blast switch, drying air is delivered to the pipe 7 through a capillary tube 26 and leaves the pipe through a restricted outlet opening 9, pressure-responsive means being connected to the pipe to give a signal when the pressure in the pipe exceeds a predetermined value due to leakage through a main control valve 15 or from the normally pressurized channel 5 within a pillar insulator 2; In the arrangement shown the pressure-responsive means comprise a piston 35 which is moved against the bias of a spring 36 to close contacts 32, 34 in a signal circuit 33 when excess pressure occurs in the pipe 7. The outlet 9 may be provided with a valve 10 which closes when compressed air enters the pipe 7 from a container 1 when the valve 15 opened to effect circuitbreaker operation. The drying air issuing from the capillary tube 26 rotates a pivotallymounted vane 27 to open contacts 28, 29 in a signal circuit 30. When the valve 15 is opened, contacts 37 in the supply to the signal circuits 30, 33 are opened to prevent incorrect signals being given.
