Abstract

580,609. Air-blast switches. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AKTIEBOLAGET. July 7, 1944, No. 12996. Convention date, July 17, 1943. [Class 38 (v)] An air-blast circuit-breaker is arranged for phasewise operation on fault with rapid reclosing, followed by opening of all phases if the fault persists. When a fault occurs, contacts 5 are closed by a relay and solenoids 4 open valves 3 to admit compressed air from containers 2 to the extinguishing chambers of all phases. The contacts 8, for the faulty phase or phases, are closed and air is admitted to the appropriate operating piston through valves 6 to open the faulty phase. Immediate reclosing follows and, if the fault persists, the contacts 8 are all closed to open all the phases. A series disconnecting switch is then opened, contacts 5, 8 reopen, and the circuit-breakers reclose. Specification 522,206 is referred to.
