[Class 40 (v)] In a circuit in which a valve, with an additional grid between the control grid and anode, feeds a load, the ratio of the D.C. potential of the additional electrode to the anode potential is greater than unity and determined by the load. It is shown mathematically, that for a typical valve, the greatest output is obtained when the screen grid potential is approximately three times the anode potential, and for variations from two to four times, the output is at least twice that when the screen grid and anode potentials are equal, the anode load varying about ten times, while the geometric mean is about one tenth the normal load.
