Abstract
586,783. Valve amplifying circuits. FLOWERS, T. H., and CHANDLER, W. W. Nov. 17, 1944, No. 22913. [Class 40 (v)] A D.C. amplifier is provided with a valve having a high A.C. resistance in order to maintain the voltage drop across the coupling resistor substantially constant. The Figure shows a two-stage amplifier in which the current through the coupling resistor 31'is maintained constant by providing a pentode valve 3, in series with it. Suitable electrode potentials for the valves are obtained from tappings on the H.T. source, these being so adjusted, that when there is zero input the output lead L2 is at earth potential. In a modification screen of valve 3 may be supplied from the full H.T. positive through a voltage-dropping resistance, the cathode resistor of valve 3 may also be omitted.
