Abstract

618,438. Valve amplifying circuits. SCOLES, G. J., and METROPOLITAN - VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. May 2, 1946, No. 13367. [Class 40 (vi)] An output voltage ¢ (v2 - v1) proportional to the difference between the input voltages v1, v2 applied to the grids of two valves A, B, each having an anode load R and a cathode load R, is taken from the tapping point of a potentiometer R1, connected between the anode of one valve and the cathode of the other valve. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), the output voltage is taken between the tapping points of two potentiometers, one connected between the anode of the first valve and the cathode of the second valve, and the other connected between the cathode of the first valve and the anode of the second valve. The valves may have a common anode load (Fig. 4, not shown), in which case a voltage proportional to the sum of the input voltages appears at the anodes. By using a number of valves, an output proportional to the difference between any two of a number of voltages can be obtained (Fig. 5, not shown).
