Abstract

581,031. Two-part couplings. WEBB, C. D. H., BURGESS, F. H., and PLESSEY CO., Ltd. June 23, 1914, No. 11934. [Glass 38 (i)] A multi-pin and socket coupling is sealed at the junction of the plug and socket units by a rubber gasket 6 forming part of a shroud 3 covering one unit; e.g., the plug unit. A rotatable headed sleeve 8 passes freely through the pin-base 1 and shroud 3, and is secured by a spring clip 12 in a groove 10. The contact sockets 15 are mounted in an insulating base 16, which has conical extensions 21, fitted in a metal cover 18 and is secured by a stud 19 threadedly engaging the sleeve 8 for drawing together and locking the parts of the coupling. Packing rings 13, 13a, 14, 14a are inserted round the interlocking means, and the contactpins 2 and the sockets 15, respectively. A cover 7 clamps the shroud and has one edge cut away to clear an extension 4 of the shroud containing lead wires 5.
