Abstract
575,079. Fastenings. GIBBS, T. J. Feb. 26, 1944, No. 3601. [Class 44] [Also in Group XXXI] Locking means for cycle tyre pumps comprise a longitudinally displaceable member 11 which co-operates with a stationery member 9 to hold the pump rigidly in position as shown in Fig. 1 and a locking member 14, Figs. 1, 2. The square or otherwise angularly shaped head 7 of a bolt securing a clip 2 in which the member 11 is displaceably mounted is engaged by a correspondingly shaped angular hole in the locking member 14. A hole 16 in the member 14 lies adjacent a similar hole 15 in the member 11 and the hasp 17 of a padlock passed through the holes 15, 16 thus secures the pump and prevents tampering with the retaining bolt head 7. The member 11 may be screw-threaded in the clip 2, Fig. 1, or a bayonet fastening, Fig. 6. The member 9 screws or otherwise is held in a clip 3 the squareheaded retaining bolt 8 of which is engaged by a similar shaped hole in a bent plate 18, Figs. 1 and 4. Alternatively the bolt 8 may be flat or cheese-headed and completely covered by the plate 18, Fig. 5.
