[Classes 44 and 89 (i)] A T-headed bolt or fastening member e is hingedly mounted by disposing the head f in a slot h one wall i of which is in the form of a lip which is bent inwards to retain the head in the slot. As shown, member e is threaded to receive a clamping nut d for securing a lid b to the base c, but the free end of member e may be provided with cam or other clamping means. The T-head may be integral or formed by passing a cross-bar through a terminal eye. As shown, slot h is formed in the lower face of the base. Modifications are described in which the slot is formed in the side face, in one of which the slot is inclined so that the outer wall of the slot provides the lip, and in the other the lip is formed by providing a second slot adjacent and parallel to the head-receiving slot.
