Abstract

574,570. Direct connections between conductors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., WELLINGS, J G., and ADAMS, W. S. Dec. 17, 1943, No. 21167. [Class 38(i)] An insulating block 1 is formed with intersecting passages 2, 3 into which wires or other conductors 5, 7 are inserted so as to cross over one another, and a third passage 4 screwthreaded to locate a grub-screw 8 in such a position that it presses the conductors together at their point of contact. The screw 8 is preferably of insulating material and may be of fibre, the block being of porcelain, the screw thread in the block serving to cut the thread on the screw as it is inserted. Recesses 9 in the surface of the block receive the insulation of the conductor 7 and mask the exposed conductor, and two passages 4 may extend in opposite directions from the central recess 9 where two connections are located in one block.
