Abstract

521,536. Direct connections between conductors ; , two-part couplings. WHITE, J. M. April 4, 1939, No. 10518. Convention date, Aug. 11, 1938. [Class 38 (i)] A hollow terminal is secured to a conductor inserted therein by crimping the terminal at different zones in such a way as to grip both the bare conductor and the insulation in aligned bores and to increase the area of contact with the conductor. The main zone of contact is at 14 where three depressions 18 are formed by crimping so that the metal of the terminal 12 is pressed into the stranded conductor 10 as shown in Fig. 5. At the tip of the terminal a larger number of crimps 22 are formed the general shape of the terminal being preserved. The skirt 13 is crimped at 23 to grip the insulation 11 of the conductor. The terminal is formed with a groove 15 between the zones of crimping.
