[Class 38 (i)] A terminal for an insulated conductor comprises a ferrule a gaving a bore c<2> to receive the bared conductor f, threads e in the bore serving for screwing the ferrule on to the conductor and for gripping the conductor when a longitudinal depression g is afterwards formed in the ferrule. Flat-topped threads are used to prevent cutting the strands of the cable. An enlarged part c<1> of the bore fits over the insulation h of the cable and is compressed thereon either at opposite sides i, where slits may be provided, or around an annular zone. The ferrule may have a tapered end b and. a ridge c to form a plug contact to co-operate with a socket as described in Specification 552,503.
