Abstract
281,755. Fritsch, I. Sept. 3, 1926. Binding-posts and terminals; plug couplings.- An insulated wire is .secured to a connector &c. by passing the bared wire 1 through a loose member 6 and spreading the end 1<1> of the wire so that it is clamped between the member 6 and a screw pressed member 10, the insulation being drawn over the member 6 within a bore 5' in the connector 4 so as to be clamped against a shoulder of the bore 5<1>. The screw 7 may act directly upon the wire 1 or intermediate plugs 10, 10<1> may be employed when it is desired to connect transverse wires 9, and another wire 11 may be clamped by a nut 12 on the screw 7. The screw 7 may be formed as an end-piece 7<1>, Fig. 4, which may also carry a pin 7<11> and plug 15. The screw 13, Fig. 7, may be made hollow to surround the wire insulation 3, the wire 1 being clamped against a fixed abutment 10 that may hold a plug 16 in position either laterally or longitudinally, or may be formed with a slotted sleeve with a recess in its wall so that a contact pin can be inserted laterally or endwise into the sleeve. The hollow screw 13, Fig. 2, may act through members 10, 10<1> to clamp a second wire at the other end of the connector 4. Alternatively the screw 7, Fig. 1, may have another connector 4 secured to its outer end.
