Abstract

Plug couplings; direct connections between conductors.-A plug k is slit from near its point to the other end f, the sectors forming jaws between which a wire a is inserted and gripped by an insulating sleeve i being screwed on to a thread f and engaging a coned end. Two radial slits 1, 2 are shown but three or four may be employed. The insulation h of the wire a is spread. over the coned end of the plug and is gripped by the coned interior of the sleeve i. Instead of screwing direct on the part f the sleeve i may screw on to an intermediate ring, Fig. 3 (not shown), that is drawn up a tapered smooth surfaces on the plug to press the jaws together. In another form in addition to the slits 1, 2 forming the jaws, the plug only may be slit by a cut at right angles to the slits 1, 2 and extending to the free end of the plug.
