Abstract

1387426 Terminals BRITISH INSULATED CALLENDER'S CABLES Ltd 26 Jan 1973 [29 Oct 1971] 50477/71 Heading H2E An insulating terminal block is formed in two parts 1, 2 which on assembly trap extruded contact elements 5, 8 with rectangular bores in which wires are to be clamped by lateral screws 17, 18, themselves retained by flanges 14, 24 engaging with shoulders 21, 27 on the insulating block. Metal strips 6, 12 optionally roughened, themselves forming part of further contacts such as a plug-receiving socket 13, are slipped into the contacts to locate them when their screws have been tightened. To clamp two sets of wires in one contact 8, the tubular contact element is extruded almost completely divided by a web 9, and screws are provided to clamp wires in both compartments of the tube, while the retaining strip 12 lies across the whole tube under the web.
