Abstract

958,818. Binding posts. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. May 10, 1963 [May 11, 1962], No. 18199/62. Heading H2E. A wire connector comprises a pair of end plates 5, and held by a spring clip 8 of insulating material against at least one further plate 3. The surfaces of plate 3 are provided with ridges which penetrate the surface of wires 13 placed between plate 3 and end plates 5. The assembly is mounted on a base by a grooved flange 11 on the spring clip 8. The plate 3 is made of conductive material and hence wires 13 are electrically connected together. If six wires are to be connected together, two intermediate, ridged, conducting plates are used, Fig. 4 (not shown). In another embodiment, Fig. 6 (not shown), the intermediate plate is made of insulating material and is not ridged, whereas the two outer plates are ridged and made of conducting material. In this case connection is made between pairs of wires, but the pairs are insulated from each other.
