Abstract

984,142. Binding posts. UNITED CARR Inc. Aug. 27, 1962 [Dec. 15, 1961], No. 32873/62. Heading H2E. An electrical connector consists of an insulating base to which is secured a conductive member, and a pair of conductive plates which clamp lead wires and connect them to the conductive member. As shown, Fig. 4, the conductive member 34 has a pair of integral rivets 38 which are secured in holes in the insulating base 11. These rivets 38 are internally threaded to receive screws 42 one of which passes through holes 60 in a pair of clamping plates 50, 52. These plates are formed with grooves 54, 56 with transverse ridges 70 to grip the lead wires. Lugs 58 are provided on the plates to provide stops for the lead wires and to prevent relative rotation of the clamping plates 50, 52. The grooves 54, 56 are slightly flared to facilitate the insertion of the wires. The insulating base may carry a plurality of these terminal assemblies separated by insulating barriers, Fig. 1 (not shown).
