Abstract
717,319. Cable couplings. TURNOCK, Ltd., G. Aug. 26, 1952, [May 28, 1951.] No. 12482/51. Class 38(1). A cable connector comprises two insulating clamping members 1, 2, the member i having pairs of grooves 3, 4 at right-angles and the member 2 having metal spikes 8 electrically connected by a metal plate 9. The cables to be connected together are placed in the grooves, the parts 1, 2 are located by pins 10 and holes 11 and then screwed together, the spikes thus piercing the insulation of the cables. The spikes may be divided into several groups insulated from one another to connect two or more sets of cables together. Terminal posts may be provided for the spikes or each group of spikes. The channels may, alternatively, be blind and arranged radially to accommodate cable ends, or be of varying sizes to accommodate different numbers and thicknesses of cables. The conductive parts may be moulded in clamping members of plastic material. Specifications 661,480 and 699,856 are referred to.
