Abstract

792,298. Terminal boards; binding-posts; wire couplings. BUCHANAN ELECTRICAL PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Sept. 13, 1955 [Sept. 29, 1954], No. 26163/55. Class 38 (1). A terminal block structure comprises a pair of end-sections 24, 26 which may be either fitted directly together to house a single terminal structure, or with one or more intervening sections 22 according to the number of ways required. The sections have the configurations shown so as to nest together and accommodate the terminal structures between them. The sections have pins, as 73, 76, with corrugated peripheries, which are a force-fit in holes, as 116, 118, 120, in the neighbouring sections 22, 24, so that the assembled block is self-supporting, and the end-sections have raised parts 184, 186 which are slotted at 188 to receive a flexible indicating strip 192. Sections 22, 24 have formations 128, 129, Figs. 2, 5, which engage with a force-fit slots 196 in rectangular section, tubular terminals 194 having serrated floors 202 against which the leads are clamped by screws 200 accessible through holes formed by co-operating semicircular cut-outs 152, 154 in the neighbouring sections. To distribute the clamping pressure over the clamped leads, a spring-steel plate, Fig. 16, may be interposed, the plate having a slot 216 and flange 218 to locate it in relation to formations 128. A terminal screw 236 suitable for cable-thimbles 242, Fig. 10, has a flange with a serrated under-surface to force the thimble against a notched bar 234.
