Abstract
1,213,013. Electric couplings. H. A. FAULCONER. 13 Nov., 1967 [28 Sept., 1967], No. 51630/67. Heading H2E. A device for electrically connecting at least two conductors together comprises an insulating body member with an outwardly opening cavity having a cutting edge at one side of it, and an electrically conductive insert for forcing end portions of the conductors into the cavity and make the electrical connection, the ends of the conductors being severed by the cutting edge. As shown body member 51 has a plurality of cavities 52 each for connecting a pair of conductors 59 laid in slots 53. The cavity may be conductively lined and the insert may have splines or as shown an annular extension 58 for removing insulation from the conductors (see also Figs. 2 to 6, not shown). Selected cavities may be shorted e.g. by member 61. The insert may.itself have a cavity for making further connections (Fig. 11, not shown). Insulating body member 51 may also have vertical slots (not shown) to allow it to be bent into an arc. The device may be used in connecting the conductors of multiconductor cables (Figs. 7 to 9, not shown).
