Abstract

1479049 Coaxial connectors AMP Inc 12 Dec 1974 [31 Dec 1973] 53876/74 Heading H2E [Also in Division B3] A coaxial connector comprises an inner crimpable ferrule 12 joined by a severable branch 18 to an outer contact member 10 which contains an insulating space 26, and a tubular member 34 crimpable to the outer contact 10. Two coaxial cables 1 may be connected by a doubleended device as shown, the outer conductors 7 being sandwiched between the respective outer contacts 10 and tubular member 34. A shield of mild steel 35 and thermo-setting heat shrinkable plastics material 36 surrounds the connection. In another embodiment (not shown) two separate tubular members 34 are used. The connector may be formed from a sheet of brass in a stamping process.
