Abstract

1,270,367. Electric couplings. SIEMENS A.G. 14 July, 1970 [15 July, 1969], No. 34061/70. Heading H2E. A multi-wire splice for insulated wires 9, 10 is made by a connector comprising an electrically conductive contact pin 4, having cutting edges 5 on its surface, and a sleeve 1 of heat-shrinkable plastics, closed at one end 7, over the pin, the wires to be spliced being inserted between the sleeve and pin and the sleeve then being heat shrunk to press the wires 9, 10 against the cutting edges such that they pierce the wire insulations and electrically contact the wires. A ring of heat meltable sealing material 12 at one end of the sleeve and a mass 2 of the same material at the other end of the sleeve are melted upon said heat shrinking to seal the connector. Preferably the pin has annular cutting edges and is cone shaped. A lip (8, Fig. 1, not shown) restricts the wire entrance to prevent the pin from leaving the sleeve before the sleeve is shrunk.
