Abstract
572,085. Aerial feeding arrangements. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 9, 1944, No. 4406. Convention date, March 16, 1943. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A concentric transmission line is terminated and sealed by an insulating member which supports the inner conductor, and is itself supported by a quarter-wave tube surrounding and concentric with the outer conductor of the line. The end of the tube remote from the termination of the line is supported by and connected to the outer conductor. This construction is stated to have negligible effect upon the electrical characteristics of the line and associated circuits. The end 15 of the inner conductor 16 of the line 11 is supported by the insulator 20, which closes the end of the tube 18. The latter is concentric with the outer conductor 14 of the line, and is fixed and connected electrically to it at a point 19 remote from the insulator 20. A similar structure 21 may be used to close the far end of the line and support the aerial 12. In Fig. 2 (not shown) a pair of such terminated lines is used as a means of connection between a dipole aerial and a balanced tuned circuit.
