Abstract
624,060. Air-space cables. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO., Inc. June 6, 1947, No. 15020. Convention date, Aug. 19, 1943. Drawings to Specification. [Class 36] A concentric conductor transmission line comprises inner and outer cylindrical conductors in which the ratio of the inner diameter of the outer conductor to the outer diameter. of the inner conductor is approximately 1.65: 1. For a given power transmission along the line terminated by its characteristic impedance there arises a minimum voltage gradient on the outer surface of the inner conductor; i.e. the line is provided with a maximum power-carrying capability as the applied voltage has a minimum tendency to cause flash-over between the conductors. The conductors may be separated by insulating spacers of the types referred to in Specifications 353,020 and 524,527.
