Abstract

570,424. Ventilating aircraft. VOKES, C. G. June 16, 1943, No. 9691. [Class 137] [Also in Group XXXIII] In an aircraft air-cleaning system part of the air which may be caused to pass through a number of filters or cleaning devices in series is supplied to the cabin. Part of the air may be warmed by passage through an oil- or inter-cooler or other heat exchange device. Ducts 19, 20 controlled by a valve 18 lead from the chamber a in which an oil- or inter-coo,ler 16 is disposed, to a duct 17 connected to the cabin. The valve 18 may be adjusted so as to shut the ducts 20 or the ducts 19 or may assume an intermediate position, so that heated or unheated air or a mixture of heated and unheated air may be supplied to the cabin, this air having first passed the louvres 10 and coarse filter 13 behind an intake 9. The particles removed by the louvres, escape by a passage 11 and outlet 12.
