Abstract
762,970. Automatic temperature control systems. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Dec. 16, 1953 [Dec. 31, 1952], No. 35052/53. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XIII] In a system for maintaining a constant temperature within an enclosure on an aircraft, in which a servomotor controls a mixer valve admitting a mixture of hot and cold air to the enclosure, the two air streams are derived from a vortex tube supplied with ram air from an inlet in the leading edge of the wing. The ram air entering at 13 is separated by the vortex tube 15 into a hot (peripheral) component collected by duct 19 and a cold (central) component collected by duct 17. The two ducts supply the enclosure 45 via the mixer valve 27 actuated by a reversible two-phase motor 51, which also actuates spill valves 55 which discharge the surplus air. The enclosure 45 is vented at 43. The motor 51 is controlled by an undisclosed temperature-sensitive device 47 and amplifier 49.
