Abstract

575,344. Ventilating vehicles. FORD, F. A. April 18, 1944, No. 7154. [Class 137] Air is passed into motor vehicle bodies through a filter unit of activated carbon detachably mounted in a casing 2 having inlet branches connected to a cold air duct 5 and a heated air duct 6 arranged adjacent to the engine exhaust manifold 12. The proportions of cold and heated air delivered to the filter are controlled by a flap valve operated from within the vehicle. A fan may be provided at the filter outlet, the filter being withdrawn for replacement laterally. The filter may include an asbestos wool pad and in one form is a hollow cylinder with its outer end closed by an airdeflecting cone.
