Abstract
476,787. Ventilating motor vehicles. SCOTT, F. May 3, 1937, No. 12599. [Class 137] Closed automobile bodies, aircraft cabins, or cruiser cabins are ventilated by passing the exhaust gases from the engine exhaust pipe 5 through a Venturi tube 1 which, through a pipe 7 leading to the narrowest part 3, extracts air from the enclosure 161 through branches 17, pipe 12, air silencer 10, and flexible connection 8 to the tube 1. The air entering the silencer passes to one end through tube 18 and through perforations in partitions 22 to the inlet of tube 19 which terminates in a compartment 20 housing a non-return flap valve 21. Fresh air is admitted to the body through rainproof louvres or the like, or a duct may lead from the rear of the radiator, the entering air being conditioned. Specification 326,319, [Class 137], is referred to.
