Abstract
464,489. Ventilating and heating aircraft. ELLOR, J. E. Oct. 24, 1935, Nos. 29395/35 and 12589/36. [Class 137] [Also in Group XIII] The cockpit of aircraft is heated and ventilated by admitting thereto, under control, part of the airstream which has been warmed by performing a cooling function for the aircraft engine. Air entering a tunnel D<2> passes through an intercooler D which is fitted between a supercharger D<1> and the cylinders of the engine A<1>. Part of the warmed air escapes through an outlet D<3>, and part passes through a pipe E, under control of a valve E to the cockpit. In Fig. 4, the air heated by the radiator C in a tunnel C<1> clings to the under surface of the fuselage, and passes through openings F<1> controlled by flap valves F<2>. Openings C in the top covering allow escape of the warmed air after use. In a modification, warmed air is taken from the cowl round a rotary engine.
