Class 137] [See alsc Group XXXI] Mechanically propelled vehicles and water- or aircraft are ventilated and heated by apparatus including, in the case of a motor vehicle, an intake 14 for fresh air which is led by a conduit 17 to a mixing chamber 18 delivering into the body of the vehicle, to which chamber is also led air which is heated by the radiator 13 and passes through an intake 21 and conduit 24 to the mixing chamber. A branch pipe 46 from the hot air conduit 24 supplies hot air from a perforated pipe 47 to prevent condensation on the window. Branch pipes 35 supply hot and cold air respectively to an independently controlled distributing chamber 34 in the floor of the vehicle. The intake 21 and pipe 22 communicate with a shallow box 23 attached to the under side of the bonnet, and pipes 22 and 24 have flared mouths to assist engagement between the box and these pipes when the bonnet is closed. A similar shallow connecting box 16 is provided below the sump of the engine 12. Control knobs 31 and links 33 are provided for operating valves in the hot and cold air supply pipes. The air may be heated by passage through a jacket around the exhaust pipe, and auxiliary heating means may be provided. The air valves may be operated by a thermostat to maintain a predetermined temperature in the vehicle, and a fan may be used in the cold air supply to cool the vehicle when not in motion.
