Abstract
523,206. Heating aircraft. LAGABBE, E. DE Dec. 28, 1938, No. 37654. Convention date, Dec. 28, 1937. [Class 64 (ii) and 64 (iii)] In apparatus for heating aircraft by means of the exhaust gases, fresh air entering a pipe 1 is heated in a jacket surrounding a silencer having radially projecting hollow fins 3 formed of closely spaced pairs of parallel plates. The heated air passes through pipes 6, 7, 8 leading to various parts of the aircraft. Control valves 9 leading to the interior, and 10 leading to the exterior, may be interconnected so that as one opens the other closes. The pipes conveying the heated air terminate at the exterior of the aircraft at points of low pressure and the air inlets are at points of relatively higher pressure. Circulation in the aircraft is maintained by ensuring that the pressure within is lower than at the air inlet. Flow of air over the silencers is thus always maintained.
