Abstract

506,047. Pumps. JEZLER, H. Nov. 22, 1937, No. 32125. Convention date, Oct. 15. Addition to 499,060. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] In the charging arrangement in which air is diverted intermittently by a rotary valve 31 from an air column set up in a pipe 36 by an exhaust ejector, as described in the parent Specification, the diameter of the valve 31 is much greater than that of the pipe 36. The pipe 36 is divided by longitudinal partitions into two or more passages, and the valve has ports 40, 41 opposite annular passages 42, 43 connected to the ejector and the engine respectively. The valve is rotated by vanes in the ports 42, 43, the area of which is arranged to produce a fairly constant air flow in the passages 42, 43. The pipe 36 may be connected to an entrance, formed in the leading edge of a wing or tail plane of an aircraft, or located under the fuselage, guide blades being provided at the bends near the entrance. A hit-and-miss leak valve, adjustable manually or by an aneroid device, may be provided in the piping between the valve 31 and either the ejector or the engine. Several valves 31 may be arranged in series.
