Abstract

471,385. Exhaust systems. BRISTOL AEROPLANE CO., Ltd., and FEDDEN, A. H. R. May 6, 1936, No. 12797. [Class 7 (ii)] An exhaust tail pipe comprising an excrescence 18 on an engine cowl 16 is arranged so that an insulating air space 23 is provided, cooling air preferably entering by a single elongated port 28 and leaving by a row of ports 29. The exhaust issues from an annular pipe 15 at the nose of the cowl and leaves by a grid 21, similar to that described in Specification 465,071. The grid is formed on a D-shaped pipe 20, which, with a partition 27, forms a detachable closure to the cowl. Several tail pipes may be provided spaced round the pipe 15. Specifications 451,296, 455,248, and 455,249 also are referred to.
