Abstract
514,913. Exhaust systems. BRONZAVIA SOC. ANON. May 18, 1938, No. 14880. Convention date, May 24, 1937. Addition to 471,776. [Class 7 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXI and XXXIII] The flat sheets in which the exhaust is discharged transversely to the slip stream, as described in the parent Specification, are formed by discharging the gas through a double row of holes 4 formed in the sides of a flattened pipe 2. The pipe is preferably formed of two sheetmetal pressings connected by flanges 6 ; it tapers in crosssection and has a tapering bulge 3 and cooling expansion 5 ; the pipes may be separate from the cylinder exhaust pipes and be connected thereto by spring clips. They may extend along the fairing of an aircraft which preferably has grooves in which they are accommodated so that the streamliaing is not affected. A controlled supply of air passing along the grooves may be used for heating the carburetter or for other purposes. The holes 4 may be arranged on either or both sides of the pipes.
