Abstract

502,317. Exhaust systems for aircraft engines. SCHNEEBELI, H. July 1, 1938, No. 19548. Convention date, July 2, 1937. [Class 7 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] Exhaust gas passes through a hollow engine cowling formed by walls 2, 3, separated by perforated tubes 6 through which the exhaust is ejected by air passing up the tubes. To facilitate dismantling and replacement the cowling may be made in separate sections corresponding to the exhaust pipes I leading from the cylinders. The air is deflected by a perforated plate 9 into the tubes 6 which have their ends flanged over the walls 2, 3.
