505,489. Cylinders. FUNDERBURK, O.C. Oct. 11, 1937, No. 27535. [Classes 7 (ii) and 7 (iii)] An intake manifold for two or more banks of cylinders comprises two sheet metal plates D, E secured together at their edges to form a space subdivided by partitions into as many chambers as there are banks of cylinders, the connections to the individual cylinders being such that successive suctions are made from different chambers. A manifold for a V8 engine is shown, a partition F dividing the manifold into two chambers connected to the cylinders by passages a, b, and supplied with combustible mixture by passages C. The plate D is dished above a further plate D<1> to form a chamber through which exhaust is passed.
