569,067. Steam superheaters. HOULET, F. Sept. 9, 1941, No. 11504. Convention date, April 28, 1941. [Class 123 (iii)] In a smoke-tube superheater, the return bend 3, Fig. 3, of a U-tube element is flattened in the transverse direction to allow the flue gases to flow more,freely longitudinally between the limbs 1, 2 of the element. In an annular tube element, the steam is returned through a ring 15, Fig. 4, connected to the annular space 11 and the inner tube 12 by tubular extensions 14, 16. The cross-sectional area of the bend 3 or the turn of the cross-sectional areas of the two halves of the ring 15 are at least equal to that of the entry or outlet parts 1, 2 or 11, 12.
