Abstract
314,664. Cruse, H., and Gray, T. F. June 13, 1928. Smoke-tube superheaters.-In a smoke-tube superhelater having annular elements heated inside and outside by the gases passing through the boiler smoke-tubes, straight or spiral rods a are placed in the annular superheating space of each element to serve as distance pieces between the inner and outer tubes b, c and to direct the steam backwards and forwards from end to end of the space. An annular element may be divided by four straight rods, all terminating short of the closed end of the element, and two terminating short of the end into which open the inlet, and outlet branches e, d. The rods are welded to the inner tube of an element and the outer tube is shrunk upon the rods.
