[Classes 64(i) and 123(ii] In a steam or hot-water boiler in which a horizontal section including a shell 2 and a flue chamber 20 at each end is mounted on an upright section with a water space 6 between an outer shell 1 and an inner firebox 4, and the lower and upper parts of the flue chambers 20 are connected respectively by flue tubes 9, 11 With the firebox and an outlet, the tubes 11 are connected to a flue chamber 21 in a dome 3 on top of the horizontal shell 2, and traverse the water space of the boiler. The outer ends of the smoke boxes 20 are closed by detachable composite plates comprising an asbestos layer 16 between two steel discs 15, 17 bolted together.. Draw-off water may be heated in a water-heated pipe 25 connected to a detachable header comprising plates 23, 26.
