Abstract
361,584. Water-tube steam boilers. FRASER & FRASER, Ltd., Bromley-by- Bow. and ANGUS, A. R., 1, Tennyson Avenue, Wanstead, both in London. Nov. 6, 1930, No. 33414. [Class 123 (ii).] Inclined watertubes 10 connected to headers 13 outside the combustion chamber shell are nested in the combustion space, the headers being connected by external upward and downward circulating pipes 16, 15 to one or more pressure vessels 3 above them. A flue 4 through the pressure vessel may be replaced by vertical or horizontal smoke tubes, or where depth and head room are restricted, the pressure vessel may consist of a transversely arranged horizontal drum having its lower surface swept by the flue gases. The headers may comprise a dished tube plate 23, a wall 24 and reinforcing members 25 to which a cover 14 is secured removable to expose the ends of the tubes 10. Pipe 16 is of greater cross sectional area than pipe 15. In modifications two units each comprising a deep tube nest connected to headers may be set side by side and hot engine exhaust introduced into the combustion chamber. In a, plant utilizing the gases from a refuse destructor part or all of the gases may pass directly to the chimney to control the steam generation.
