Abstract
371,100. Water-tube boilers. MARSDEN, W., Oak Dene, Great Cliff, Crigglestone, near Wakefield, Yorkshire. Feb. 28, 1931, No. 6273. [Class 123 (ii).] In a boiler having upper and lower ring shaped headers a, b with detachable covers a<1>, b<1> and connected by vertical tubes c enclosing the combustion chamber, the tubes are secured by expanding their ends over the inner ends of the openings a2 in the headers, and cross tubes f are secured to the vertical tubes by expanding their ends over the inner ends of openings in the vertical tubes. Handhole covers g opposite the ends of the cross tubes are held together by a vertical strip g<1> in each vertical tube c. The spaces between the vertical tubes may be closed by plates d secured by bolts d<2>. Tubes m shut off from the heat of the furnace by corner pieces d<3> serve as downcomers. The tubes are surrounded by nonconducting covering 0.
