Abstract
650,559. Hot-water boilers. BOUELLAT, P. F. Jan. 30, 1948, No. 2767. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1947. [Class 64(i)] A hot-water boiler comprising a hollow walled combustion chamber having inlets for cold water in the vertical hollow sides a, b, c, d, which communicate with a hollow walled top e from which water is withdrawn, is characterized by a nest of U-tubes 32 connected to the one side wall c and projecting inwards towards the opposite side wall a, a secondary air blast from a pipe g which extends across the combustion chamber deflecting the products of combustion towards the front wall a, thence to the top wall e and over the U-tubes to the flue outlet 25. A refractory wall 37 prevents the combustion products from short circuiting directly to the flue and baffles 36 ensure that they flow over the tubes. The water spaces of the panels a-e are interconnected by flanged, part-tubular members, see Figs 5 and 6 (not shown), and the U-tubes themselves are connected to the water space of the panel c. Cold water return connections 22 are provided at the lower end of each of the panels b, d, the hot water outlet 23 being in the upper panel e. The secondary air pipe g is supported in two opposite panels b, d, and is water jacketed, the jacket being in communication with the water space of the panel b. The boiler may be provided with a heat-insulating covering (not shown).
