Abstract
568,354. Washing boilers. FLETCHER & CO., Ltd., G., and MURRAY, C. W. Feb. 24, 1943, No. 3035. [Class 64 (i)] [Also in Group III] In evaporators, vacuum pans, digesters and like apparatus of the kind in which the liquid. is evaporated by circulation through tubes 4 heated by passage of steam thereover, the steam inlet pipe 5 is provided with baffles or vanes 9, 10, 11, diverging obliquely to the direction of the pipe 5. The wall 12 of the pans adjacent thereto is flared similarly to the vanes. The vanes 10 direct the steam tangentially to the tube space which is divided into a plurality of compartments by division plates, also tangentially arranged. Steam passes from the tubes to an annular space formed by a wall 15, 16, the latter downing the downtake 8 and the wall 15 being provided with perforations 18. Adjacent the division plate, the condensate formed is led off by a pipe 7.
