Abstract

691,324. Forced-flow steam &c boilers. BABCOCK & WILCOX, Ltd. Sept. 29, 1950 [May 9, 1949], No. 23867/50. Class 123(ii) A forced-flow steam &c. boiler comprises a vaporising section 1 discharging into a steam-andwater separator 2 from which the separated steam is directed. through a superheater 3 to a contact heatexchanger 4 into which the separated water is sprayed at 6, the resultant steam then being directed through a second superheater 7. Alternatively water from the separator 2 is collected in the heat-exchanger and steam from the superheater 3 in sprayed below the surface thereof. Preferably the separator 2 and heatexchanger 4 are superimposed as a unit, Fig. 3, divided by a plate 9 mounting a tube 5 with spray nozzle 6, the separator 2 having tangential inlets 10 for the steam-water mixture from the section 1 and a steam outlet pipe 11 leading to the superheater 3, and the exchanger 4 being provided at its upper end with a steam inlet 12 and at its lower end, not shown, with a steam outlet.
