Class 123(2) In a forced-recirculation boiler including a stearm and water drum 1 from which a circulating pump 3 withdraws water through a pipe 2 and delivers it intc a distributer header 4 whence it passes through heated evaporating tubes 6 discharging steam and water into a collector i connected to the drum 1 by a pipe 8, the flow of water to the tubes 6 is controlled and proportioned by connecting between the header 4 and each tube 6 a predetermined length of unheated proportioning tube 5 of smaller bore than the heated tube, the length and bore of the tube 5 being such that water passing through the tube is subject to a pressure drop which equals or exceeds the frictional pressure drop in the tube 6 to which it is connected. In modifications, each tube 5 is connected by a bifurcating or trifurcating piece to two or three evaporating tubes.
