[Class 39 (i)] A cathode-ray tube has a fluorescent screen comprising a number of intermeshed, mutually insulated electrical networks, and of corresponding coatings of fluorescent materials having different colour responses, each of the coatings being so arranged that it will be excited by the electron beam in preference to the other coatings when the potential of its corresponding network is raised above those of the other networks. In one construction, the screen is composed of coatings of fluorescent materials along the edges of a stack of conducting plates with intermediate insulation. The plates may be connected to sources of potential in interleaved groups, thus forming the intermeshed networks. The apparatus may be used 'for colour television or in cathode-ray oscillography.
