[Class 7 (ii)] In a device for controlling the supply of additional air &c. to the induction pipe or manifold and comprising a casing a having in its upper end apertures b for admitting air &c. to a disc valve i having two limiting positions in which it cuts off the air flow and an intermediate floating position wherein it permits the passage of the air &c. as determined by conditions in the manifold, the valve i which may. slide on a guide rod, t, operates between a valve seat e at the lower end of the casing a and a conical seat e at the lower end of the casing a and a conical seat on the inclined inner wall of a conical fitting c forming part of the casing. The fitting houses a spring m by which the valve is urged towards the seating e. Air which passes the valve enters the manifold through a calibrated plug p by which the device is secured thereto. The guide rod t, which extends the whole length of the device and supports a locknut x for a screw plug s adapted to adjust the tension of the spring m, may be omitted.
