Abstract

598,402. Valves. RUDGE, R. S. V. Dec. 7, 1945, No. 33107. [Class 7 (vi)] An unbalanced valve 1 loaded by an adjustable weight 5 on a lever 16 is opened by the flow of combustible mixture in the induction pipe 2, the valve closing under full throttle low speed conditions to reduce the weight of charge and prevent knocking. The valve may also be under the control of the suction in the pipe 2 by means of a piston 9 having a rod 10 connected to a lever 4 on the valve spindle through a slotted link 11 adjustable by means of a setscrew 12. At high suctions the piston 9 rises and maintains the valve 1 open, the weight 5 closing it at full throttle low speed conditions as before.
