564,235. Rotary pumps. CLARK, G. M. (Equi-Flow, Inc.). June 15, 1943, No. 9544. Drawings to Specification. [Class 110 (ii)] Gear-wheel pump rotors are built up of thin discs : those on the driving shaft are keyed thereto, but, so as to leave slight axial freedom, those on the driven shaft are not keyed and are free for slight axial movement and relative rotary movement. The discs may be arranged in a step-wise formation to approximate to double-helical wheels and this formation is determined only by the keying to the driving shaft. The rotors with either spur or double helical teeth may be of either the externallymeshing or the internally-meshing type and a similar construction may be used for the rotors of pumps of the meshing screw type. The discs may be stampings from thin metal sheets and may be used with the rounded edge on one side and the lip on the other as they come from the stamping operation. Or, the discs may be ground flat and be ground off towards the periphery to give a slight clearance between the tooth parts of adjacent discs. The discs are pressed together by fluid from the delivery which is admitted to recesses in the end walls of the chambers.
